Claude Motion alternatives: 6 tools compared
Last updated
Claude Motion, Anthropic’s beta feature, turns a prompt into a short code-built animation inside Claude. It suits some jobs well and leaves others to partner tools — there is no built-in voiceover, and it needs a Claude Team or Enterprise plan. Here are five alternatives, what each one is actually for, and which to pick.
The short version: pick Optimirox for finished vertical social videos with a voiceover, from $8 a week; Remotion if a developer wants to build videos in code; HeyGen for a talking presenter; Runway for generated footage; and Descript to finish a Claude Motion export with a voice. Stay with Claude Motion if your team already works in Claude and wants horizontal animations, charts or product walkthroughs.
| Tool | What it makes | You give it | Voiceover | Starts at |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Claude Motion | Short code-built animations inside Claude, exported as MP4 | A prompt | Not built in — add one afterwards, e.g. in Descript | A Claude Team or Enterprise plan (beta) |
| Optimirox | Animated 9:16 social videos with music and subtitles, from a brief or a viral Reel | A description | Built in: 6 voices, 12 languages | $8 a week |
| Remotion | Videos written as React code and rendered programmatically | Code | Bring your own audio | Free for individuals and teams of up to 3; $25 a seat a month for companies |
| HeyGen | Presenter videos with AI avatars | A script | Built in, spoken by the avatar | Free tier; paid plans from about $29 a month |
| Runway | Generated video footage from text or images | A prompt or an image | Not its focus | From about $15 a month |
| Descript | Edits video by editing its transcript; finishes Claude Motion exports | Footage or an export | AI voices built in | From about $24 a month |

1. Optimirox — finished social videos with a voiceover
Optimirox writes the storyboard for you — hook, scenes, price, call to action — and the post caption, in one of 25+ animation styles built from text, shapes and illustration rather than generated footage. It adds one of 6 AI voices in 12 languages, a track from a library of 28 and subtitles, and renders a vertical 1080×1920 MP4 up to 60 seconds in one to two minutes. It can also start from a Reel that is already working in your niche. Best for small businesses and marketers who post Reels, TikToks and Shorts.
2. Remotion — videos as code
Remotion is an open framework for making videos in React: every frame is a component, and rendering can be automated for thousands of personalised videos. It is the closest to Claude Motion’s code-built approach, but you write and host the code yourself and bring your own voice and music. It is free for individuals and companies of up to three people; larger companies need a licence. Best for developers building video into a product.
3. HeyGen — a talking presenter
HeyGen makes videos in which an AI avatar, or a digital twin of you, reads your script, with translation into many languages. That is a different look from motion graphics: a person on screen rather than animated text and shapes. Best for training, sales outreach and explainer videos that need a face.
4. Runway — generated footage
Runway generates video clips from a text prompt or an image with its own video models, and has editing tools around them. Use it when you want footage that looks filmed — a product in a scene, a camera move — rather than an animated layout. Credits limit how many seconds you can generate each month.
5. Descript — finishing a Claude Motion export
Descript edits video by editing its transcript and has AI voices built in. Descript has a direct integration for Claude Motion exports, so it complements Claude Motion more than it replaces it. Best when you already have the animation and need the voice, captions and edit.
When Claude Motion is the better fit
If your team already has Claude Team or Enterprise and wants horizontal animations, animated charts or product walkthroughs made alongside other work in Claude, Claude Motion is the natural choice — add a voice afterwards in a partner app. Optimirox is focused on vertical short-form videos for marketing.
